December 5k Handicap.

The last Handicap of 2021 (where has this year gone!) was a very competitive run. Ten runners entered and all except one set either a new PB, equalled their PB or improved over their previous outing.

After the runners came round at the end of their second lap, it was going to be a very close finish. At this stage Sandra was leading, and didn’t look like being caught. However John had other thoughts and stormed round the last lap and caught the slowing Sandra, to end up the winner for the second time, equalling his PB. Sandra managed to hold on for second place, pleased with her time, especially given her lack of running recently. Runners were now coming home close together, with the top six separated by about a minute. It’s great to see the handicap system working so well.

Tina turned out to be the quickest runner of the evening with another PB, and 8 seconds faster than John. There were also PBs for Andy R, Glenn, Hadley and Michelle, with Sandra setting her best time of this year.

The annual trophy will be awarded at the AGM, and I can see that 2022 will be very competitive.

Many thanks to all that took part, and to Val, Marie, Veronica, Mark and Steve for marshalling.
