September 5k handicap.

The lure of a visit to The White Horse in Easebourne bought out runners keen to take part in this month’s handicap, the last on our summer course this year.

The dry and coolish conditions suited our runners, with six setting new PB’s, and another beating their previous effort. We had three taking part in their first handicap run - Tim Y, and Lara and Martyn K. All three set very good times, with Tim storming round the course in 20.59, the best time of the evening. Their qualifying times have now been set for their next attempt.

In a normal month, the top six could all have taken the monthly trophy. But they were all well beaten by the fantastic run by Jackie S who beat her nearest rival by nearly 90 seconds, smashing her previous time. Jackie, along with Martyn and Lara have recently joined The Milers, having taken part in our recent Couch to 5k course. They are all doing so well, and it’s great to have them as part of our club.

Pippa was in second place, improving her time by over 2 minutes. Third was Hadley, who has also recently joined The Milers. Louise, Wendy M and Emilia all set new PB’s and Tina beat her previous run also. Newly married Lucy was as consistent as ever, with another run in the 26 minute bracket, I’m sure she will soon break into the 25 minute time.
